Abt's recent evaluation of California's Project Roomkey found that more than 62,000 persons experiencing homelessness found safe housing in hotels and motels during the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic. This program continues to serve as an effective emergency housing model and, in turn, also helped participants permanently get off the street.
