Abt’s evaluation of the Career Trajectories and Occupational Transitions (CTOT) Study, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor, examines the 10-year wage growth experienced by workers who enter mid-level occupations before age 35. We found large disparities in wage growth by gender and race, even among otherwise similar workers.
Data from the CTOT Study are available in this dashboard, where you can examine the characteristics of occupations that are launch pads for higher-than-average wage increases over time.

In the past decade, the career pathways approach to workforce development emerged as a strategy to promote labor market advancement. This report synthesizes findings from 46 impact evaluations and finds that the approach led to large increases in credential attainment and sector-specific employment but smaller or no impacts on earnings.
