Who’s Experiencing Homelessness? The List Is Growing.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s latest Annual Homeless Assessment Report to Congress shows that the number of people experiencing sheltered homelessness declined. But recent data also show that people of color continue to be dramatically overrepresented, and suggest that people are aging into chronic homelessness or experiencing homelessness for the first time when they are 65 or older.

Creating Economic Empowerment for People Living in Public Housing

Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) programs run by Compass Working Capital in partnership with public housing agencies and private owners aim to help rental assistance recipients make progress toward economic security. In a new quasi-experimental analysis, Abt found that program participants experienced large FICO® Score increases while individuals in the comparison group had no change. The analysis also found that total and student debt grew more slowly among program participants.

Hosted by the Housing Solutions Lab in collaboration with Abt, the three-week virtual workshop is free and designed to help localities begin developing comprehensive and balanced housing strategies to better address affordability and other housing challenges.
