USAID’s Local Health System Sustainability Project (LHSS), led by Abt Associates, is working with the government of Jamaica and private sector stakeholders to reduce the strain on the public health sector from the COVID-19 pandemic and strengthen the country’s COVID-19 response.
Guinea’s private sector is an important player in the health system, but its contributions are largely unknown. The Abt-implemented SHOPS Plus project, with funding from USAID, assessed the private sector’s role in multiple health areas, focusing on challenges and opportunities to take advantage of the private health sector’s resources.

New Journal Articles: Sources for Neonatal and Reproductive Care
SHOPS Plus published two peer-reviewed journal articles on where women access contraception – and why it matters – and sources for and quality of neonatal care in LMICs. These articles shed light on the critical role of the private sector in reproductive and neonatal care and implications for more efficient, equitable, and higher quality care.
